Did you know..?

  • Capcom is short for ‘Capsule Computers’. Not Captain Commando.
  • The first console to have games available in the form of add-on cartridges was the Fairchild Channel F console, introduced in August 1976.
  • The Little Sisters from BioShock didn't start their life as little girls at all, but rather tiny mole-like creatures who scuttled around Rapture collecting Adam. Other concept art had them looking like 50's-style robots as well.
  • Steve Downes, the voice of Halo’s Master Chief, is a DJ for a Chicago radio station.
  • The Sega Dreamcast was the first console to implement online play over a phone line, calling the system 'SegaNet.'
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was one of the first games to be released on a Tuesday in the EU. SEGA named 24th November 1992 'Sonic 2sDay' in his honour.
  • It's possible to skip rescuing Deckard Cain in Diablo II, despite the quest's mandatory status. If you don't go back to Tristram to fetch the old dude by the end of Act I, he'll be rescued by the rogues, and you'll have to pay a fee for him to identify your items, which is normally a free service.
  • When Diablo is released in the final level of the original Blizzard game, he says something in a strange demonic language. When played backwards, the voice is in English and says "Eat your vegetables and brush your teeth after every meal." See, he's not so bad after all.
  • Harry Hamlin, star of the 1980 epic Clash of the Titans, reprises his role as Perseus in God of War II. Sadly, he gets butchered by Kratos for his efforts.
  • In Halo, when a Covenant Elite says 'Wort Wort Wort', the sound effect is actually that of Sergeant Johnson saying 'Go go go' played backwards.
  • The Xbox was originally named DirectXbox, as it was initially designed to show how Microsoft's Direct X graphics technology could benefit the console market.
  • The clouds and bushes in Super Mario Bros. are the same sprites, just recoloured.
